A man, identified as Firas Othman al-Jebbawi from Jasim city in northern rural Daraa governorate, was killed on July 8, 2024, by a stray gunfire amid clashes between unidentified armed groups and Syrian regime forces in his home city. Another man, identified as Qusai al-Nseirat, was injured in the same clashes as well. The area is under the control of Syrian regime forces.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that Firas is a civilian who had never been involved with any military formation. He had worked at a money transfer office.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) has not yet been able to determine which side was responsible for Firas’s death. We condemn what happened, and hold the controlling forces responsible for holding the perpetrators accountable.
