A man, identified as 26-year-old Jamal Mohammad Kulin Ali from Darkir village in the rural areas of Afrin city in northwestern Aleppo governorate died on June 21, 2024, of wounds sustained three days earlier, on June 18, 2024, when he was shot by Syrian National Army (SNA) personnel after passing an SNA checkpoint on the crossroads of the two villages of Jwyeq and Darkir in northwestern Aleppo governorate. Another 22-year-old man named Mohammad Walid Alikou, who was with Jamal Ali and is from the same village, was injured in the same incident. The area is under the control of the SNA.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that the SNA has, through this act of killing, has again violated international human rights law. The perpetrators must be held accountable.
