A man, identified as Basman Manoukh al-Houshan, and his son Ahmad were shot dead on May 30, 2024, by personnel from the pro-regime People’s Committees. The two were first arrested from their house in their hometown of Mahajja in northern rural Daraa governorate, and then taken to a People’s Committee headquarters in the town. The area is under the control of Syrian regime forces.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that the two victims are civilians who had never been involved with any military formation. Syrian regime forces, through this act of killing, have yet again violated international human rights law. The perpetrators must be held accountable.
