On May 9, 2024, a fire, of unidentified cause, broke out in a tent for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in al-Faqea’ Camp to the west of Sarmada city in northern rural Idlib governorate. While no casualties were recorded, the tent was partially destroyed in the blaze and its contents were heavily damaged. The area is under the control of armed opposition factions and Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS).

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) calls on international relief organizations to meet the IDP camps’ urgent basic needs, and to supply the camps’ administration with additional tents for emergencies.
