A man, identified as Meqdam al-Suleiman, from al-Hreijiya village in northern rural Deir Ez-Zour governorate, was shot dead on April 17, 2024, by Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) personnel, with another man, identified as Zidan al-Mekhlef, injured in the same shooting incident. The two were shot after they passed a checkpoint in Rwyeshed village in northern Deir Ez-Zour governorate. The area is under the control of the SDF.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that, through this killing, the SDF has again violated international human rights law. The perpetrators must be held accountable.
