A man, identified as Omar Taha al-Ahmad al-Faraj who worked on a boat transporting food supplies across the Euphrates River in western Deir Ez-Zour governorate between areas under the control of Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), and the Syrian regime, was shot dead on April 4, 2024, by SDF personnel stationed in the riverside village of Zaghir Jazira while he was in his regime-controlled home village of al-Kharita, on the river’s opposite bank.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that, through this killing, the SDF has again violated international human rights law. The perpetrators must be held accountable.
