On November 25, 2023, a man, identified as Hassan al-Hussein, was killed and another four people were injured, by the explosion of a motorbike being used to transport gas at a checkpoint for the Syrian National Army’s (SNA) Military Police in al-Bab city in eastern rural Aleppo governorate, with SNHR not yet able to identify the explosion’s cause.

The area is under the control of the SNA. The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) is still trying to locate eyewitnesses and survivors to obtain more information about the incident. SNHR condemns all bombings targeting civilians and vital civilian facilities. We call on the controlling forces to uphold their responsibilities for protecting civilians in their areas, to investigate this incident, and to make the findings of the investigation known to the public. Syria will never have true stability without a genuine political transition process towards democracy within a fixed timetable.
