A man, identified as Abdul Karim al-Saleh al-Harith, was shot dead on November 26, 2023, by Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) personnel while they were arresting him on charges of drug trafficking in a raid on his house in his hometown of Mheimda in western Deir Ez-Zour governorate. The SDF members shot him as he attempted to flee. The area is under the control of the SDF.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that through this killing, the SDF has again violated international human rights law. The perpetrators must be held accountable.
