A man, identified as Abdullah al-Themer, from Mantaqet al-Laja town in eastern rural Daraa governorate, was shot dead on September 27, 2023, by patrolmen affiliated with the Syrian regime’s Air Force Intelligence Directorate on the road connecting the towns of al-Msaifra and al-Ghariya al-Sharqiya in eastern Daraa governorate.

Another man, identified as Mousa al-Hrabi, was injured in the gunfire. Subsequently, Syrian regime forces arrested Mousa and took him to an undisclosed location despite his injury. The area is under the control of Syrian regime forces.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that through this and other acts of killing, Syrian regime forces have violated international human rights law. The perpetrators must be held accountable.
