On September 2, 2023, an artillery attack by unidentified parties targeted a camp for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in al-Dweira village to the west of Qebbasin town in eastern rural Aleppo governorate. The shell fired exploded next to the camp, injuring three civilians from the same family – a man, a woman, and a child – in addition to causing mass panic among the residents. The area is under the control of the Syrian National Army (SNA).
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) suspects the attack was carried out by either Syrian regime forces or Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) since the attack originated from the direction of their territories. Investigations are still ongoing to accurately identify the attackers.
