A man, identified as Ibrahim Ali from Kbashin village, administratively a part of Sherwa Subdistrict in rural Afrin city in northwestern Aleppo governorate, died on August 28, 2023, of wounds sustained in an attack by Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) who used a rocket launcher to bomb his house in al-Ghazzawiya town, located in a rural area near Afrin city on August 22, 2023. The area is under the control of the Syrian National Army (SNA).
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that, through this and similar acts, the SDF has violated Security Council resolutions 2139 and 2254 which prohibit indiscriminate attacks.
The SDF also violated international humanitarian law on distinguishing between civilians and fighters, which spreads fear among civilians.
