On August 26, 2023, the body of a 70-year-old man, identified as Ayesh Ahmad S’oudi, the mukhtar (headman) of Kahil town in eastern rural Daraa governorate, was found by local residents in the vicinity of al-Msaifra town in eastern rural Daraa governorate. Ayesh had been abducted by gunmen we have not yet been able to identify on July 20, 2023, while on his way to the mosque to perform the dawn Fajr Prayer.

The area is under the control of Syrian regime forces. As of this writing, the Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) has not been able to identify Ayesh’s killers. The controlling forces bear responsibility to identify his killers.
