On April 28, 2023, a fire broke out in Samidoun IDPs Camp in Heir Jamous village in the suburbs of Salqin City in the northwestern suburbs of Idlib governorate. Although no casualties were documented, the fire, caused by a defective oven, completely destroyed four tents and partially burned two others, all of which had been housing internally displaced persons (IDPs) from al-Kastan village in the suburbs of Jisr al-Shoghour. The area is under the joint control of armed opposition factions and Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS).

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) calls on international relief organizations to meet the urgent basic needs of internally displaced persons (IDPs), and to supply the camps’ administratio with additional tents for injuries.
