A man identified as Bashar Mohammad Eisa al-Jrad, from al-Ghariya al-Gharbiya town in Daraa suburbs, died on April 27, 2023,* in a fire, whose cause is so far unknown, which broke out in al-Zaatari Refugee Camp near the Jordanian-Syrian borders in northern Jordan. Bashar’s wife and three children also sustained varying burn injuries in the blaze.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) calls on international relief organizations to meet the urgent basic needs of internally displaced persons (IDPs), and to supply camps’ administration with additional tents for injuries.
* *According to information we received from activists, we published earlier that the young man was killed on April 28, 2023, in a fire of unidentified cause. On further investigation, however, it was found out that he died on April 27, 2023, in a fire caused by an electrical short circuit.
