A 16-year-old boy, identified as Mohammad Majed al-Saleh al-Hazim, from Eqerbat town in the suburbs of Hama, was shot dead on March 22, 2023, by personnel from a Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) patrol who were pursuing him for riding a motorcycle in al-Tabaqa city in western Raqqa governorate. The city is under the control of the SDF.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that the SDF issued a decree prohibiting riding motorcycles in al-Tabaqa a few days ago.

It should be also noted, however, that through this killing, the SDF has once again violated international human rights law, and that the perpetrators must be held accountable.
