Hussein Iliwil al-Jabr, from Marat village, eastern Deir Ez-Zour governorate was killed by the explosion of a landmine, whose source is so far unknown, on October 23, 2022, in the Syrian regime-held Marat village.

SNHR is still trying to locate eyewitnesses to obtain information about the incident.

SNHR condemns all acts of killing targeting civilians. We call on the controlling parties to uphold their responsibilities to protect civilians living in areas under their control, to disclose the locations of landmines, and to work on properly removing them.

We have recorded hundreds of deaths and injuries resulting from landmine explosions, with these mines continuing to pose a serious threat to the lives of residents, especially children, that will last for years.
