Four-year-old Ayed Ahmad al Matar, who was displaced along with his family from Ma’dan city in eastern Raqqa governorate, suffered meningitis while living with his family in the Tal al Bay’a Camp in eastern Raqqa city,  where he died of the disease on June 20, 2022 due to medical negligence by those running the camp, which is controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces.

SNHR condemns the controlling forces’ negligence and failure to care for the residents’ health and welfare.

SNHR holds the controlling forces accountable and calls for an investigation to identify the reason for the negligence and shortcomings, and to hold the perpetrators accountable.
