A boy born in 2008, Ahmad Haitham Jafo, from Korzila village of Afrin city in the northern suburbs of Hasaka governorate, a resident of al Sheikh Maqsood neighborhood in Aleppo city, was abducted by Syrian Democratic Forces personnel on June 21, 2022*, after he left his school “Mikhail Naimy” in the neighborhood for conscription, and taken to a recruitment center.

SNHR notes that the child’s parents have not been informed of his whereabouts, and he hasn’t been allowed to contact his family, who are also forbidden from visiting him. We fear he may be forced to participate directly or indirectly in military operations, and confirm that around 197 children are still conscripted in Syrian Democratic Forces recruitment camps.

* According to previous information, we’ve published a news report stating that the child Ahmad Jafo was abducted by Syrian Democratic Forces for conscription on June 22, 2022. However, after further investigations and communication with his family, we learned that Ahmad was abducted by the Syrian Democratic Forces on June 21, 2022, and the news was edited accordingly on June 25, 2022.
