A refugee from Iraq, Eyad Zain al Ajaj, born in 1990, was shot and killed on May 1, 2022, by unidentified gunmen in the first sector of al Hol Camp for IDPs near al Hol town in the eastern suburbs of Hasaka governorate, which is controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces.

SNHR is still trying to reach eyewitnesses for more details on the incident.

SNHR condemns all killings of civilians and calls on the controlling forces to assume their responsibility for protecting the civilian population in areas under their control and to launch an investigation into this incident and reveal its conclusions to the public.

There will be no stability in Syria without a genuine political process moving towards democracy, implemented according to a set timetable.
