A girl, Israa Shuja al Husani, died on April 20, 2022 from wounds she sustained when she was among those shot by unidentified gunmen who targeted the car in which she was traveling with her family on the road between al Dara village west of Suwaida governorate and al Mlaiha al Sharqiya town in the eastern suburbs of Daraa governorate on April 12, 2022.
SNHR notes that the girl’s father, Shuja al Husani, and her brother, Muhammad, and grandfather, Ali al Remh, all died immediately in the gunmen’s attack on the vehicle.
The area is under the control of Syrian regime forces, SNHR is still trying to reach eyewitnesses to obtain more details of the incident.
SNHR condemns all killings of civilians and calls on the controlling forces to assume their responsibility for protecting the civilian population in areas under their control and to launch an investigation into this incident and reveal its conclusions to the public.
There will be no stability in Syria without a genuine political process moving towards democracy, implemented according to a set timetable.
