Unidentified gunmen shot and killed Muhammad Amin Mahmoud Sharifa, a judge at the court in regime-controlled al Sanamayn City north of Daraa governorate, and wounded his brother when they opened fire near the judge’s house in Qeita village in northern Daraa governorate, which is also under the control of Syrian regime forces, on April 17, 2022. SNHR is still trying to reach eyewitnesses to obtain more details of the incident.

SNHR condemns all killings of civilians and calls on controlling forces to assume their responsibility for protecting the civilian population in areas under their control and to launch an investigation into this incident and reveal its conclusions to the public.

There will be no stability in Syria without a genuine political process moving towards democracy, implemented according to a set timetable.
