A man from Teyban town in the eastern suburbs of Deir Ez-Zour governorate, named as Wasim Suleiman al Hwaijah, was shot dead in the town on December 7, 2021 by gunmen whose identities haven’t yet been identified; the town is controlled by Syrian Democratic Forces. SNHR is still trying to contact witnesses to obtain more details of the incident.
We condemn all attacks of this nature which target and kill civilians, and call on the governing forces in every area to bear responsibility for protecting civilians in the areas under their control, and to conduct investigations into all such incidents and reveal their findings to the public. Stability will not be achieved in Syria without achieving a political transition towards democracy implemented according to a strict timetable.
