A man, named as Abdou Abdul Rahman Eisa, from Jalbara village which is administratively a part of Afrin city in the northern suburbs of Aleppo suburbs, was arrested on November 17, 2021, by gunmen affiliated with Syrian Democratic Forces from his workplace in al Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in connection with his objections to the conscription of his niece, a female child Silva Nedal Eisa, in the SDF’s military training camps, and was taken to an undisclosed location.
SNHR notes that no member of the detainee’s family was informed of his arrest or whereabouts as he was prevented from contacting any family members. SNHR fears that he will be subjected to torture and ultimately classified as forcibly ‘disappeared’, like approximately 85 percent of all detained persons in Syria.
SNHR demands that financial and therapeutic compensation be provided to the victims and their families, as well as insisting on an end to all arbitrary arrests which aim to spread terror among Syrians and to the blackmail of families, and we further demand that the fates of thousands of people disappeared by the regime be revealed as we have serious concern for the detainees’ wellbeing, given the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.
