Two fighters, named as Ahmad Farhan al Qteifan and Yazan Adnan al Metleq al Mheisen al Mahamid, were killed on July 29, 2021, when Syrian regime artillery forces fired shells at the Daraa al Balad area in Daraa city.
SNHR notes that the Daraa al Balad area has been witnessing a military escalation by Syrian regime forces since July 27, 2021. As a result, a number of families have been displaced from the area, heading to safer districts in Daraa city for fear of regime bombardment and storming of the area.


* According to information we received at the time, we published a news report stating that two victims killed in Syrian regime forces’ shelling of the Daraa al Balad area of Daraa city on July 29, named as Ahmad Farhan al Qteifan and Yazan al Mahamid, were civilians. Following subsequent investigation, we have confirmed that the victims were, in fact, combatants. We have edited the news accordingly as of July 31, 2021.
