Hay’at Tahrir al Sham carried out raids on al Sahhara village in the western suburbs of Aleppo governorate on July 16, 2021, after local residents refused to agree to the HTS’ Salvation government’s appointment of an Imam of a mosque in the village. SNHR has documented the arrest of three civilians in the raids, all of whom were taken to an undisclosed location.
SNHR notes that none of the detainees’ family members were informed of their arrests, with their phones being confiscated, preventing them from contacting their families. SNHR fears that they will be subjected to torture and ultimately classified as forcibly ‘disappeared’ like approximately 85 percent of the individuals detained in Syria.
SNHR can confirm that at least 3,585 Syrian citizens are still detained or forcibly disappeared in HTS detention centers.
