A 25-year-old displaced civilian from al Ashara city in the eastern suburbs of Deir Ez-Zour governorate, named as Saher Matar al Azzawi, was shot dead on June 11, 2021, by unidentified gunmen in Section Four of al Hawl IDP Camp near al Hawl town in the eastern suburbs of Hasaka governorate. SNHR is still trying to contact witnesses to obtain more details of the incident.
We condemn all attacks of this nature which target and kill civilians and call on the governing forces in each area to bear responsibility for protecting civilians in the areas under their control, and to conduct investigations into all such incidents and reveal their findings to the public. Stability will not be achieved in Syria without achieving a political transition towards democracy implemented according to a strict timetable.
