The body of a man from Theyban town in the eastern suburbs of Deir Ez-Zour governorate, named as Muhammad Hamad al Ayed, was discovered on April 23, 2021, by local families in his home in al Nashwa al Sharqiya neighborhood in Hasaka city, bearing signs of torture and gunshot wounds.
Although the SNHR is unable to identify the party responsible for the civilian’s killing, the area is controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces. Despite the controlling forces bearing responsibility for revealing the perpetrator’s identity, they have not launched any investigation which increases the suspicion of their involvement in the killing.
