A 21-year-old woman, named as Jijek Omar, from Ma’mal Oshaghi village which is administratively a part of Afrin city in the northern suburbs of Aleppo governorate, was reported missing on March 23, 2021, in the village. On March 28, 2021, local families discovered her body on farmland adjacent to the village.
Although the SNHR is unable to identify the party responsible for the woman’s killing, the area is controlled by the Syrian National Army. Despite the controlling forces bearing responsibility for revealing the perpetrator’s identity, they have not launched any investigation which increases the suspicion of their involvement in the killing.
