A media activist from al Nqeir village in the southern suburbs of Idlib governorate, named as Hayyan Habbabeh, who works in healthcare center of Violet organization in Izaz city in the northern suburbs of Aleppo governorate and lives in Izaz city, was arrested by the Syrian National Army personnel in the city on January 21, 2021and taken to an undisclosed location.

SNHR notes that no member of the media activist’s family was informed of his arrests or whereabouts, with the phones being confiscated, preventing him from contacting his family. SNHR fears that he will be subjected to torture and ultimately classified as forcibly ‘disappeared’, like approximately 85 percent of all detained persons.

SNHR can confirm that at least 3,262 Syrian citizens are still detained or forcibly disappeared in the Armed Opposition’s detention centers, constituting a grave threat to the detainees’ wellbeing, given the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.
