A man from Kherbet al Rez village which is administratively a part in Tal Abyad city in the northern suburbs of Raqqa governorate, named as Abdullah Shehadah al Khaled, was kidnapped on August 3, 2020, by unknowns from his house in the village. On August 9, 2020, locals found his body bearing signs of gunshot wounds in Kourmaza village in the governorate’s northern suburbs. The area is controlled by the Syrian National Army forces. SNHR has been unable to identify the party responsible for Abdullah’s death up to the time of writing. Although the controlling forces bear responsibility for revealing the perpetrator’s identity, the Syrian regime has not launched any investigation which increases the suspicion of regime forces’ involvement in the operation.
