The bodies of two sisters in their 70s from Deir Ez-Zour city, named as Wedad and Su’ad Abdul Qader al Fakoush who were born in 1949 and 1948 respectively, were discovered by local residents in the city’s al-Hamidiya neighborhood on July 21, 2020. The two elderly ladies who had been reported as being lost on June 30, 2020, from the city’s al-Muwazafin neighborhood, had apparently been shot dead, with their bodies bearing signs of gunshot wounds. The area is controlled by the Syrian regime forces. SNHR has been unable to identify the party responsible for their death up to the time of writing. Although the controlling factions bear responsibility for revealing the perpetrator’s identity, the Syrian regime has not launched any investigation which increases the suspicion of their involvement in the operation.
