Two young girls were kidnapped by Syrian Democratic Forces personnel for military conscription in the village of Seftak in the eastern Aleppo region on July 11, and taken to an undisclosed location. The girls, named as Ahlam Msallam Hussein and Ghazal Muhammad Mustafa Eisou, who were born in 2006 and 2005 respectively, are both from Seftak village which is administratively a part of Ein Arab city in the eastern suburbs of Aleppo governorate.
SNHR notes that no members of the girls’ families were informed of their arrest and that both girls have been prevented from contacting their families, who are not allowed to visit them. SNHR fears that they will be forced to engage directly and indirectly in military operations, and confirms that around 86 children are still detained for forced conscription in the SDF’s camps.
