A displaced man from Kafr Batna town in Eastern Ghouta in the east of Damascus suburbs governorate, named as Muhammad Khair al Hafez, was killed on July 5, 2020, when an IED placed under a car in Afrin city in the northern suburbs of Aleppo governorate exploded. SNHR is still trying to contact witnesses to obtain details of the incident.

SNHR condemns all explosions which target and kill civilians and calls on the governing forces in each area to bear responsibility for protecting civilians in the areas under their control, and to conduct investigations and reveal their findings to the public. Stability will not be achieved in Syria without achieving a political transition towards democracy and the rule of law, implemented according to a strict timetable.
