A 13-year-old boy Wahid Murad was killed on July 5, 2020, when a remote-controlled Syrian regime UAV drone fired a missile in the vicinity of al Bara village in the southern suburbs of Idlib governorate while he was herding sheep.
Syrian regime forces have committed a violation of international humanitarian law by killing this child through this indiscriminate and random bombardment which does not distinguish between civilians and combatants and which constitutes a war crime. SNHR has recorded thousands of killings of this nature committed by Syrian regime forces since the beginning of the popular uprising. With the death toll of victims killed by Syrian regime forces exceeding 226,000 Syrian civilian citizens, the international community must intervene to protect civilians in Syria from these ongoing killing operations.
