The body of 36-year-old Haitham Abdul Rahman al Bakhouri from Idlib city was discovered by locals on the road between Idlib city and the village of Kourine on June 30, 2020, having apparently been stabbed multiple times with a sharp implement. The area is under the joint control of factions of the Armed Opposition and Hay’at Tahrir al Sham. SNHR, which notes that Haitham had been reported as missing the previous day, has so far been unable to identify the party responsible for his death. Although the controlling forces in the area bear responsibility for revealing the perpetrator’s identity, the dominating party has not launched any investigation which increases the suspicion of their involvement in the killing.
