Two men, named as Zakariya al Hussein al Abd al Jabbar and Bashar al Haj Bakkour, who worked as civilian guardians for the headquarters of the Future Syria Party in al Arima town which is administratively a part of Manbej city in the eastern suburbs of Aleppo governorate, were shot dead on January 12, 2022 by unidentified gunmen in front of the headquarters building in the town which is controlled by Syrian Democratic Forces. SNHR is still trying to contact witnesses to obtain more details of the incident.
We condemn all attacks of this nature which target and kill civilians, and call on the governing forces in every area to bear responsibility for protecting civilians in the areas under their control, and to conduct investigations into all such incidents and reveal their findings to the public. Stability will not be achieved in Syria without achieving a political transition towards democracy implemented according to a strict timetable.
