A man, named as Abdul Rahim Temmeh, the member in the public relations office of Kurdish Future Movement in Syria and member of the local council of Ras al Ein city in the northwestern suburbs of Hasaka governorate affiliated with the Kurdish National Council in the city, was abducted by gunmen affiliated with Syrian Democratic Forces on January 9, 2022, in Tam Baidar area in northwest of the governorate and taken to an undisclosed location.
SNHR notes that no member of the civilian’s family has been informed of his arrests or whereabouts, and he was prevented from contacting his family. SNHR fears that he will be subjected to torture and ultimately classified as forcibly ‘disappeared’, like approximately 85 percent of all detained persons in Syria.
SNHR demands that financial and therapeutic compensation be provided to the victims and their families, as well as insisting on an end to all arbitrary arrests which aim to spread terror among Syrians, as well as an end to the blackmail of families, and we further demand that the fates of thousands of people disappeared by the regime be revealed as we have serious concern for the detainees’ wellbeing, given the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.
