A 35-year-old woman from Aleppo governorate, named as Duha Ismail, was shot dead on December 9, 2021, by gunmen who haven’t yet been identified in her tent in Section Five of al Hawl IDP Camp near al Hawl town in the eastern suburbs of Hasaka governorate, which is controlled by Syrian Democratic Forces. SNHR is still trying to contact witnesses to obtain more details of the incident.
We condemn all attacks of this nature which target and kill civilians, and call on the governing forces in every area to bear responsibility for protecting civilians in the areas under their control, and to conduct investigations into all such incidents and reveal their findings to the public. Stability will not be achieved in Syria without achieving a political transition towards democracy implemented according to a strict timetable.
