A man, named as Madloul Hammadi al Adas, from Fneijin village which is administratively a part of Soor town in the northern suburbs of Deir Ez-Zour governorate, was shot dead on November 8, 2021, by unidentified gunmen in the village which is controlled by Syrian Democratic Forces. SNHR is still trying to contact witnesses to obtain more details of the incident.
SNHR condemns all attacks of this nature which target and kill civilians and calls on the governing forces in each area to bear responsibility for protecting civilians in the areas under their control, and to conduct investigations into all such incidents and reveal their findings to the public. Stability will not be achieved in Syria without achieving a political transition towards democracy implemented according to a strict timetable.
* According to information we received at the time, we previously published a news report stating that Madloul Hammadi al Adas was shot dead by unidentified gunmen on November 9. Following subsequent investigation, we have confirmed that Madloul was killed on November 8. We accordingly edited the news report to reflect this as of November 13, 2021.
