Two brothers, named as Muhannad and Ahmad Sabti al Muhammad al Watab, from al Zer village which is administratively a part of al Bseira city in the eastern suburbs of Deir Ez-Zour governorate, were shot dead on October 16, 2021, by unidentified gunmen in the city which is controlled by Syrian Democratic Forces. SNHR is still trying to contact witnesses to obtain more details of the incident.
We condemn all attacks of this nature which target and kill civilians, and call on the governing forces in every area to bear responsibility for protecting civilians in the areas under their control, and to conduct investigations into all such incidents and reveal their findings to the public. Stability will not be achieved in Syria without achieving a political transition towards democracy implemented according to a strict timetable.
