A woman, named as Faridah Sidou, from Krouka village which is administratively a part of Afrin city in the northern suburbs of Aleppo governorate, was arrested by security political forces affiliated with the Syrian National Army on September 13, 2021, after being summoned to a security political branch in Afrin city to visit her husband ‘Abdul Qaser Sidou’ who was arrested in September 1, 2021. The woman was arrested on charges of dealing with Syrian Democratic Forces and taken to an undisclosed location.
SNHR notes that no member of the detained woman’s family was informed of her arrest or whereabouts, with her phone being confiscated, preventing her from contacting her family. SNHR fears that she will be subjected to torture and ultimately classified as forcibly ‘disappeared’, like approximately 85 percent of all detained persons in Syria.
SNHR can confirm that at least 3,641 Syrian citizens are still detained or forcibly disappeared in the armed opposition’s detention centers, constituting a grave threat to the detainees’ wellbeing.
