A man from Tal Hadya village in the south of Aleppo governorate, named as Ahmad Hussein Sattouf, was arrested in February 2021 by Hay’at Tahrir al Sham personnel in the village on charges of being affiliated with Syrian regime forces. On September 15, 2021, HTS notified his family of his death, while failing to hand over his body to them. SNHR data from numerous sources confirms that he was in good health at the time of his arrest, indicating that he probably died due to torture in an HTS detention center.
SNHR can confirm that at least 2,287 Syrian citizens are still detained or forcibly disappeared in detention centers run by HTS.
We note that at least 28 Syrian citizens have died due to torture in HTS’ detention center.
