Two brothers, both media workers, named as Bashar and Muhammad al Sheikh, from Kafr Nbouda town in the northwest of Hama governorate, currently living in al Anadolu IDP Camp near Kafr Lousin village in north of Idlib governorate, were arrested on September 4, 2021, by Hay’at Tahrir al Sham personnel in a raid on their residence in the camp and taken to an undisclosed location.
SNHR notes that neither of the brothers’ other family members were informed of their arrests, with their phones being confiscated, preventing them from contacting their families. SNHR fears that they will be subjected to torture and ultimately classified as forcibly ‘disappeared’ like approximately 85 percent of the individuals detained in Syria.
SNHR can confirm that at least 2,287 Syrian citizens are still detained or forcibly disappeared in HTS detention centers.
