Hay’at Tahrir al Sham carried out raids on the Khair al Sham IDP Camp in north of Kelli town in the northern suburbs of Idlib governorate on August 17, 2021. SNHR documented that three civilians were arrested and taken to an undisclosed location, with the arrests accompanied by heavy shooting and an assault on a woman as she attempted to prevent the HTS personnel from arresting her son.
SNHR notes that neither of the detainees’ family members were informed of their arrests, with their phones being confiscated, preventing them from contacting their families. SNHR fears that they will be subjected to torture and ultimately classified as forcibly ‘disappeared’ like approximately 85 percent of the individuals detained in Syria.
SNHR can confirm that at least 3,585 Syrian citizens are still detained or forcibly disappeared in HTS detention centers.
