The body of a 16-year-old boy, named as Jalal Abdul Razzaq al Thalj, from Deir Ez-Zour suburbs, was discovered by local families in Section Six of al Hawl IDP Camp near al Hawl town in the eastern suburbs of Hasaka governorate on March 25, 2021, bearing signs of gunshot wounds.

SNHR notes that al Hawl IDP Camp has witnessed an unprecedented rise in killings recently as we documented the killing of 44 displaced persons, including 11 children and 11 women, in the camp since the start of 2021.

Although the SNHR is unable to identify the party responsible for this civilian’s killing, the area is controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces. Despite the controlling forces bearing responsibility for revealing the perpetrator’s identity, they have not launched any investigation which increases the suspicion of their involvement in the killing.
