Syrian Democratic Forces used a missile launcher to shell Villas Street in the center of Afrin city in the northern suburbs of Aleppo governorate on February 17, 2021, injuring at least 13 civilians, including six children, and partially damaging the structure of the city’s al Shefaa Hospital when one of the missiles landed near its back entrance. SNHR can confirm that the hospital is located within a civilian area and is free of any military presence or equipment.
We condemn attacks against medical facilities and call on the SDF to bear responsibility for the incident, investigate the incident and hold the perpetrators accountable.
