A man from al Ashara city in the eastern suburbs of Deir Ez-Zour governorate, named as Ahmad Abeid al Hasan, was abducted on September 17, 2020, by unknown individuals from his residence in Darnaj village in the eastern suburbs of the governorate. On September 18, 2020, his body was discovered by local families in the badiya (desert area) around Theyban town in the eastern suburbs of the governorate. The area is controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces. SNHR has been unable to identify the party responsible for Ahmad’s death up to the time of writing. Although the controlling forces bear responsibility for revealing the perpetrator’s identity, SDF has not launched any investigation which increases the suspicion of regime forces’ involvement in the operation.
