Two brothers, named as Basam and Hasan Salloum al Ismail, from al Haddadiya village which is administratively a part of al Shadadi city in the southern suburbs of Hasaka governorate, were arrested by Syrian Democratic Forces on September 7 during a raid on their home in the village and taken to an undisclosed location.
SNHR notes that no members of their family were informed of their arrests, and their phones were taken from them, preventing them from contacting their family. SNHR fears that they will be subjected to torture and ultimately classified as forcibly ‘disappeared’ like approximately 85 percent of those detained in Syria.
SNHR notes that approximately 3,337 Syrian citizens are still detained or forcibly disappeared in the SDF’s detention centers, constituting a grave threat to their wellbeing.
