This photo shows a densely-packed crowd of Syrian citizens in front of Jaramana Bakery in Jaramana city in Damascus suburbs governorate on July 25, 2020, which violates all the precautionary measures introduced to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic among the public. SNHR notes that the cases of infection with the virus amongst the population in areas under the Syrian regime’s control are constantly increasing, reaching 627 cases, including 36 deaths according to a statement issued on July 25, 2020 by the Syrian Ministry of Health. The government of the Syrian regime has not taken any serious measures to end crowded public gatherings of citizens desperate to buy essential goods like bread and gas and get their salaries, with this negligence resulting in a stark violation of most precautionary measures introduced to protect citizens from being infected by the pandemic. This provides further confirmation, as SNHR has noted, that a regime responsible for the killing of hundreds of thousands of Syrians and the displacement of 12 million refugees and IDPs will not care for the people, no matter what suffering they endure.
The Syrian regime has failed to attempt to stop the spread of COVID-19 pandemic among Syrian citizens by neglecting to impose the basic precautionary measures stipulated by the World Health Organization.
