Muhammad Deeb Halabiyeh, was killed and four other civilians were injured when Syrian regime forces used a missile launcher to shell the area around Ariha city in the southern suburbs of Idlib governorate on July 14, 2020. SNHR notes that, with this crime, the Syrian regime has committed another violation of international humanitarian law through killing another civilian in indiscriminate and deliberate bombardment which does not distinguish between civilians and combatants, and which constitutes a war crime. We have documented thousands of killings which have been committed by Syrian regime forces since the beginning of the popular uprising in March 2011. With the death toll of Syrian civilians killed by Syria regime forces exceeding 226,000 in total, the international community must intervene to protect civilians in Syria from these ongoing killing operations.
